Do you notice anything different or special about this picture?

While many of you may simply see it as a nice picture of wild flowers. It reminds me of several things. First,  there’s always beauty around us if we look for it.  Whether it is in a smile from a stranger,  a beautiful flower,  a cloud in the shape of a bunny,  a house getting rebuilt,  a home project getting finished,  our garden growing, our or family growing. We simply need to look each and every day and we can find it.  Some days it feels harder and the search lasts longer but it is still there. 

Second,  the flower in the middle is not white but rather slightly purple. Still the same flower,  but dressed in different petals. That subtle difference reminds me that we were not all created to be the same.  While we are all human,  we were by design set out to look different, have different purposes, and bring a different impact to this world.  It is OK that we are gifted with different talents and abilities,  it is what makes community so great. Covid really hurt that with all the isolation and we have forgotten the value in our differences. While we can always find some common groun, that shouldn’t be the only thing brought to the table. 

Lastly,  it reminds me that we all have a set season on this planet.  It is appointed unto man once to die. While we do not know the exact day or hour that will be,  we should be living our life in such a way that we are not waiting to reach out to that loved one,  who knows when their time is up.  We are not waiting to take that trip we are making the plans and working to achieve the goal.  We are not waiting to learn that new thing,  we are scheduling time on our calendar to do it. I’m speaking to myself here too.  For isn’t it better to live with no regrets than waste our lives on meaningless things like binge watching another show instead of calling that friend or loved one, or purposefully planning that trip with family and saving for it to happen. 

Better yet, planning on where you want to spend eternity.  Heaven and hell are real and I would not wish any one to go to hell, but by not purposing in your heart to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and simply allowing the enemy of all mankind to rob you of your one resource you can’t get back,  your time, you are choosing hell.
