While we live in the most beautiful part of the country, it is not all rainbows and sunshine. To get to live where there is continual green, means you also have to endure rain and snow at times. When I was busy raising our kids, I raised them with the mindset that weather never determines fun. So many times we would go to the beach on a stormy day, because that was the best time to see some of the sea creatures and have less crowds. Or go puddle jumping with our bikes and come home soaking wet and muddy and ready for hot chocolate. It is also an amazing way to learn more about the world we live in. Like how do the animals stay dry, think like a bunny or a deer, or how do animals cool off when it is warm.
I have also learned that we all have different love languages. Many of us show others love naturally in ways that we wish to receive it. For example, if you are an acts of service person you will show others that, hoping they might reciprocate it with you. I am a quality time person 1st and acts of service 2nd. So this year for mother’s day, my son and hubby decided to plan a weekend getaway to do just that. We went somewhere they knew I would be happy, outside and spent time with me.
My son even went so far as to think ahead and order me a special journal, he knows me well, that helps me tell my family my story. Things that we would not normally talk about, but are fun facts or things that made us who we are. I will feel loved every time I open it and work to write a little bit more in it.
During our time of exploration we found a lifesize jenga game, that of course we had to try, and of course we had to put it high on a table because that is way more fun. It is always fun to see my son take the riskiest moves in hopes of setting up the others to fail, and then in turn him be the one to knock them all over.
Stay tuned for more adventures from mother’s day weekend…..
