Just when I thought it was safe to let the guys go early and not wait until the paint dried to lock up and leave. I was wrong, very wrong.
See this great steel door. Didn’t the guys do a great job on the paint? It was a gorgeous day out and I stopped in to check on things like I do for my surprise visits to projects. Thankfully I did because I realized I had forgotten to tell the painters to paint the front and garage door and the rails on the stairs.
But then they wanted to catch the earlier ferry and I didn’t give it much thought, sure to ahead and take off, I’ll lock up after the paint dries on the door. I was staying in the area that night so figured it would be fine. I’ll answer some emails and return calls, it’ll be fine.
Well when I went to close the door, I know what some of you are thinking and no I made sure it was dry first. But if you look closely at the pics, you’ll see a gap up top and not enough to close on the bottom. Of course what do I do, call my fix it man. Kurt help, I just sent you pics of a door I can’t close and have to lock up the house.
He does the best he can to guide me through a few things. Then explained for me to do some other things that would require both hands and so I hung up. Then I misunderstood what he said and completely unscrewed both bottom and middle hinges, moved them 3 times and still couldn’t get the door to shut.
I called him back and he finally had me put 2 screws in the jamb to pull it in enough to close. Did I say it was a steel door? Yes way too heavy for me to be doing anything with. So by the time I got it to move a quarter of an inch so it could close I was shaking from fatigue and pain. Yup the guys got a pleasant surprise the next day when it was their turn to try to get in, but hey there the ones who got to leave early after all.
Well on to the next adventure…
