The Diary of the Remote RV Investor–episode 125

How does a house divided have any chance of standing? Well when it comes to football teams and fair weather fan or die hard, that’s how.  You see most of you know that Kurt and I are Seahawks fans.  What you may not know is that despite our best efforts, our son Jonathan, is a San Francisco 49ers football fan.

Now let me give you a little background so you can see how that could possibly happen.  When Jonathan was 5 he started playing flag football.  This was the first year that the boys and girls club had NFL flag football.  So instead of letting the kids pick the name of their teams, they automatically gave them NFL team names and matching jerzees.  It was much more fun for the kids for sure.  His very first team was the 49ers.  It’s not like he really follows them much or even watches many games, he is definitely more of a fair weather fan.

So how did he grow up all these years in a Seahawks house and not convert?  Well I am a staunch believer in teaching kids to think for themselves.  So although Jonathan loved having the football in common with his dad, he loved more knowing the 49ers were staunch rivals of the Seahawks.  So every year when they played it became a thing and he would always try to get out of his chores if the 49ers won.  Thankfully they did not win very many during his time when he lived at home.

But now that he is in his own home, the rivalry continues.  Last year it was alot of texting back forth as we were in Florida, but this year it was game on!  But don’t worry, Blue dog is still a seahawks fan.  But pray for our daughter, she’s thinking of converting to a Philadelphia eagles fan ☹️

This year it was a good game, but thankfully no chores were harmed in the making of that bet. 🙂

Until the next adventure…
