The Diary of the Remote RV investor–  Episode 118

Some of you may not know that we have Executive rentals all across this country. We don’t use these rentals for tourists and vacationers that are there for only a couple nights.  We do what is called a midterm rental.

Our average guest stays 3 weeks to 3 months. These are corporate travelers,  nurses,  doctors,  IT and other professionals,  or some snow birds and work crews depending on the area.

We see all kinds of interesting things from these travelers.  But the thing that always surprises my cleaners is when they come in after they have checked out and it still looks like they are still there.  Fridge packed full of food,  clothes everywhere, sometimes packages not even opened.  In this picture if you look at the wall beside the bed,  they even brought in another mattress.  All to be left behind.

Some of the professionals get very little notice and are simply required to show up, or leave in less than 24 hours.  So they may have limited items they were able to pack,  or their trip got extended so they needed to get stuff.

When corporations are doing your arrangements you don’t always get a say.

We do our best to get things returned to our guests,  but most of them only need it for the time being,  so we then donate them to local folks in need.  It seems odd to our cleaners because they live a different life,  but we have some travelers who ride their motorcycle to their locations,  buy the clothes they need while there and leave them when they go.

They are not weighted down with the burden of stuff and it allows them to do a much different job than most folks. This was much the same for us when we went 100% remote.  It freed us to be what our teams needed us to be and reduced our daily stress.  Oh it’s not for everyone,  and may only be for a season,  but for now, it is sure a blessing to us and the others who get to see us much more.

Until the next adventure!
