Kansas City, Kansas City here I come!
While Kurt immediately passed judgment on Kansas city and deemed he hated it, I did not. Every city has good and bad parts and what I have found is if you are looking for the bad you will find it every time. If you are looking for the good, you will find it every time also. We have several partners and investors from the area and I am always looking for the good to try to get Kurt to change his mind. So it did not help that he was not with me this time. 😣
Kansas City is a vibrant city with lots of growth and interesting history, but who doesn’t have a past 😀So it was a great opportunity to meet up with fellow mastermind members and experience some that Kansas City has to offer.
So for those of you who follow our BBQ trials, we got to try 2 different BBQ restaurants while there. Jack Stack and Big Q have both won many awards for their BBQ. But what I noticed is that it depends on what kind of BBQ you like. If you like saucy BBQ then Jack Stack is your best choice. If you like great smoke and deep flavor, Big Q is the better choice. I’m told by the locals that Jack Stack has just gotten too commercialized and has lost some of their flavor.
We were finally also able to participate in Top Golf while there. We have tried for 3 different meetups with this group and either had to cancel due to hail storms, or cancel due to hurricanes. So we were excited to finally be able to go. Unfortunately for our group, they were dealing with the same problem many of us businesses are dealing with, workers unwilling to show up and work. We had 1 server for an entire section of almost 100 guests and the cook staff was short as well, so things were taking a very long time. But thankfully for him, we immediately recognized his challenge and did everything we could to assist him, including making our group all come to 1 table to order at the same time, no matter when they got there, and paying all on 1 bill. That may not seem like a big deal, but to the waiter who has no idea what table meals went to and who belonged to what meal, it was a huge blessing.
Thankfully, our group is always up for a good time, and the guys had immense fun trying to correct my poor skills. I definitely tried, but when you can’t put weight on either hip, it is more of a challenge with crutches, just saying. While Ethan Moore had the prettiest, oh wait, most handsome swing I had ever seen, Chris Barnhill was the most patient.
It was so great to be out of our elements all doing something new and experiencing life together! What experiences do you have planned on your horizon to do with your family?friends? Business partners or teams? Maybe it is time to get some more on the calendar, life is too short!
