So I am sure that you are wondering why on earth I took a picture of a desk sitting outside of the office and Kurt’s backside. Well the simple truth is I couldn’t figure out what the hold up was and why they weren’t getting the desk into the office. If you are one of those folks who can clearly tell by looking at the picture, please don’t spoil it for others. What you are unable to see is that this is a sit stand desk that I got for our leasing office on one of our Build to Rent Projects, the Crest in Lafayette, LA.
What you can’t see is that it is extremely heavy due to the mechanical parts and the granite surface on the top of the desk. What you probably can see is that the desk is too big to fit through this doorway, even if they tip it this way or that or even go in backwards. After trying for 20 minutes to dismantle the legs, they realized that it was going to be a much bigger project, especially after they had to call around for tools because they didn’t bring any.
You see everyone of the guys in the 2nd picture normally carries around tools from all their years working on sites. But as they have crossed over into ownership they have gotten out of the habit. So after we chuckled about that fact, they tracked down at least an allen wrench and then determined it would take far more tools and time so they needed a different plan.
Hence picture number 2. They went to the window and started measuring to see if it would fit through there. They only had to figure out which side was going to have 2 guys and which side was going to be the strong man by himself. After rock, paper, scissors, went down Derek lost and he got to be on the outside.
So they all had to carry it back through the front door and over to the window, then Kurt and Chris got to come back and receive it on the office side. I told them it was payback for not getting the crew guys to show up when the truck was ready to be unloaded. Needless to say I had to listen to it all night when they were beating me at pool.
I have no idea why our crews don’t want to live in Bethany’s world. Everything is light and doesn’t need 3 guys, everything fits perfectly, and nothing needs to be taken apart, but that is usually because all the men in Bethany’s world are 10 feet tall and can jump buildings in a single bound. They always want to burst my bubble with silly physics and logic. Silly boys, I’m going back to Bethany’s world, it’s way more fun 😉
