What on earth would a sign for storage rental have to do with Remote RV investors? Well I’m glad you asked. One of the things that has allowed us to be remote is thinking outside of the box. Finding ways to make things either more profitable than they already were, or use something in a totally different way to generate revenue.
Storage has become a hot commodity these days. It is always amazing to me how people won’t pay their rent but they will pay their storage. Some of the ways we can bring more value to our various communities is finding ways they can generate more income and storage is one of them.
Take for instance this picture. It is a garage on a very busy street that would be perfect for a company who needs storage space and often will pay more than the amount you could charge extra on the rent for a tenant. In our mobile home communities, any storage that we can offer is a huge payoff, even if it is only a patch of grass to park their RV, boat, or trailer on.
In our executive rentals sometimes our units don’t have adequate storage space for our maid closets so we are forced to find alternatives, so we might go with a cleaner who also has room for storage of our supplies over one that does not.
On our multifamily units, some of them have basement areas that could be turned into storage or areas under stairwells that could be turned into storage for bikes, etc and charged a premium for. On our Build to Rent sites we will be bringing in small storage sheds, for the tenants for an additional premium. It saves them having to go to a storage unit and it helps our properties out.
One of our Kansas city partners has figured out how to turn old retail space into storage units and even bring in old shipping containers and create outside storage areas. All because they saw the empty space that had been sitting vacant for years and knew they could do something with it.
Yes it is all about thinking outside of the box, appreciating the good things in life and finding new solutions to get through the challenges of life. That’s what keeps the adventure going! Until the next one.
