The Diary of a Remote RV Investor–Episode 107

One of the perks of building a business is all the many adventures and people along the way that you get to meet.  This picture is of another real estate investor whom we originally met in one of our training meetings, but since then have become friends.  When we got to various conferences or trainings, we are always networking with different people.  Lauren and I found that we have much in common, as she likes to travel as well and has mostly been building her business on her own.

As you can see, she is a beautiful woman who, like me, is full of energy.  So now we often find ourselves asking each other which conferences are we going to and finding ways to meet up all over the country.  I’m not 100% sure where this particular pic was taken, I think it was an event in Houston.  She also likes to do a lot of the outdoor activities I do, so it is great to have another friend to do those with.

You see I make it a habit that when I do all the work of scheduling the conference, registering, paying for, booking the hotel, booking the flight or drive, then attending the conference, and possibly have to work overtime to keep things flowing for the teams, to reward myself after the event.  So often, I will stay an extra day or two depending on how long the event was, if I’m meeting other investors in the area, etc, and will schedule something fun to do while there.  Sometimes it is simply getting a much needed massage, other times it is taking a kayak trip, or going on a special hike, or visiting a cool place there, and it is usually more enjoyable if I’m able to do it with friends, except for the massage part that is a solo only thing 😉

I have learned that my personality type needs to have fun and adventure often to give myself something to look forward to and to help stay the course to finish the task.  Then the reward is so much sweeter, especially if I gained new friends.  Most folks only have friends they have met at work or church, maybe a neighbor or an old school mate, but if you ask them where they make new friends, they usually say work or church, but I’m good I’m not really looking for new friends.

Well, what I have found is that friends like many things in life have seasons, some are shorter than others, so by always seeking to make new friends, you never run out of them through all the different seasons and generally will have one to get together with at any given time or specific event.

Where are you making new friends?  Are you making new friends?  If not, why not?  They say your net worth is a direct correlation to your network.  So if you are wanting to do more, or new things, it might be time to add some more friends to the friend bank for new and fuller life experiences.  That’s living intentionally and on purpose! Try it, you’ll be glad you did.

Until the next adventure.
