The Diary of a Remote RV investor — Episode 77

by | Jan 27, 2023 | Blog

People often ask us how is it that we are able to travel around and not be tied down to a job at our young ages.  We immediately let them know that we worked very hard to build a real estate investing company in markets that made sense and not necessarily close to us.  We did this by building strong teams in all of our markets.  We did this because we wanted to be able to help others have the financial freedom to make different lifestyle choices if they wanted to as well.

We joke with folks that our Florida and southern teams are very needy, all winter long, while our PNW teams need us all summer.  Then it can be a toss up between the fall and spring where you might find us exploring, or helping our teams.  Yes as business owners we have a little more flexibility to create our own calendars and deadlines, but we definitely still have them.

For instance, these 2 pictures are of our 117 unit in Jacksonville, Florida, that we closed on last September.  We have a phenomenal team in place there, so we didn’t get our eyes on it until we came down in November.  This just solidified everything our team had done.  But today found us driving through the property on our way to meet with the manager, maintenance, and construction team and bring them some lunch.

We came to our property in the Park at Blanding. Just like back home, my teams know that I usually show up with food in hand, or I’m plugging in a crock pot or pressure cooker to make sure they are good and ready to eat after our meeting 😊  When we sit down to eat, it gives us the chance to get to know our teams better.  You see they aren’t just a number to us, they are a further extension of us and we want to make sure it is doing well or if there is something we can do to help them.  We want all of the members of our teams to feel good about the job they are doing, the products they are creating, and the people they are helping in their communities.  This often means learning about new cultures, this is one of my favorite things because it also involves food.  We have so many different cultures working with us and we want to know all the amazing things about those cultures.  After all America is a melting pot of cultures and we certainly enjoy getting to know all of them.

So just as this property will look totally different the next time we come through this property, our teams may look different.  They may be more mature, they may be bigger in number, they will definitely have accomplished more, and their families may have grown.  All of those things matter to us at American Made Home Solutions and it brings a great deal of anticipation when we are working virtually to be able to connect in person.

Until the next adventure….
